There is a huge selection of hotels on offer in Rome, but getting one in a prime position is very important. Rome is not a quick city to travel around, so it makes sense to have your hotel as near to the main sites as you can. Having tried different hotels, we recommend Hotel Capo d’Africa.

This 4 star hotel is perfect for your Rome holiday. Located with a roof terrace overlooking the Colliseum, only two streets away, you are certainly in the heart of old Rome! Enjoy dining al fresco from the roof, providing peace from the crowds of tourists.Hotel Capo d’Africa dates back to the 20th century and is a blend of contemporary artworks and sand, ochre and saffron design. For those wanting to burn off some of the sumptuous gelatio (ice cream) located throughout Rome, there is a fitness centre on site.

Having been recently refurbished, this hotel focuses in their own word on “unostentatious luxury”, something it effortlessly achieves.

The hotel is located in the Celio district, which the locals dub “The Village,” as it has a traditional Roman atmosphere and character. The name Capo d’Africa is in reference to the African provinces that decorate the surrounding streets, Caput Africae. It is possible that the hotel was inhabited by Roman citizens from the African regions, having traveled to Rome in the same routing as that of General Maximus, as seen in the film, The Gladiator.

Whilst enjoying your Rome holiday, you are also near to the Old Forum and Trevi Fountain, with the Spanish Steps only 15 mins walk away. For the Vatican however, it is worth taking the bus as there is quite a bit of walking once you reach Vatican City!

About Hannah Netting

Hannah has had the travel bug from an early age where she was fortunate enough to travel widely, including a four month trip around the world. For her experiencing new cultures, sights and wonders was very important.

Lately her focus has been heavily on Italy enhanced by many wonderful trips including Verona, Venice, Top to Toe, Florence, amongst many others. In Venice she got lost in true Venetian style and got to experience the amazing acoustics of the Verona Arena. Currently Florence is her favourite, but this can always change! With plenty on offer in Italy, it will keep her entertained for many more trips to come!
