La Pergola Restaurant in Rome

While enjoying your Rome holiday, you must take a day to explore Vatican City. Having had your fill of some of the best history the city has to offer, your thoughts are then likely to be drawn to where to have dinner. You can eat at your hotel, wander through the centre for something to take your fancy, or choose to stay close to the Vatican by visiting La Pergola Restaurant for dinner.

La Pergola is the only restaurant with 3 Michelin Stars within the centre. It boasts a wine cellar of over 60,000 bottles – something to suit even the most discerning palate! The restaurant uses only the finest ingredients sourced in the Mediterranean.

But the food is not the whole picture – La Pergola restaurant is designed with the art lover in mind. There are paintings, a rare Aubusson tapestry, imperial furniture and glass blown by Emile Galle. Each day the ancient 17th century vase is refilled with fresh flowers to keep the aroma and the sight pleasing to the eyes, whilst also providing the attention to detail and refinement expected of a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. For those that like a good cigar to round off an absorbing day, there is a Cigar Lounge adjoining La Pergola, where you can indulge in a relaxing cigar whilst sipping a vintage liquor.

The restaurant has won many prestigious awards including major Italian gastronomic guides “L’espresso, Gambero Ross, Bibenda”, as well as consistently being voted the “Best Restaurant in Rome”. Furthermore the Michelin Guide has awarded La Pergola an impressive 3 Stars and 5 Forks.

A word of warning though, you need to book a table at least 3 months in advance to secure a place. Having booked your Rome holiday, you want to experience the best the city has on offer!

About Hannah Netting

Hannah has had the travel bug from an early age where she was fortunate enough to travel widely, including a four month trip around the world. For her experiencing new cultures, sights and wonders was very important.

Lately her focus has been heavily on Italy enhanced by many wonderful trips including Verona, Venice, Top to Toe, Florence, amongst many others. In Venice she got lost in true Venetian style and got to experience the amazing acoustics of the Verona Arena. Currently Florence is her favourite, but this can always change! With plenty on offer in Italy, it will keep her entertained for many more trips to come!
