Our New Improved Rome holiday break
It has been a while since we have had a look at our Rome break and after meeting with our suppliers, we have now found some fantastic new options! Everyone heads to the main exhibits – the Coliseum and Vatican City, but there is so much more to a Rome holiday then just these two sights.
In the interests of fully immersing yourself in Ancient Rome, we have selected 4 star Hotel Forum as the new hotel to base your stay at. This hotel has fantastic views overlooking the Old Forum and with dining taking advantage of this on the roof, it surely has to tick all the boxes!
In terms of the activities, we have included the historical Lights & Laser Show evening, which highlights the history of either Rome or Julius Caesar (alternative nights), all showcased by lasers against the Old Forum. Quite an experience! You are free to ample back to your hotel, ideally situated opposite after.
Whilst an orientation tour of Ancient Rome is still included with a private guide, we understand that many of our clients want access to the main sights but then to be able to wander at their own pace. Therefore, we have changed the Vatican day to include a one way private transfer to the Vatican, beat the queues entrance tickets and then you are left to your own devices to enjoy Vatican City at your own pace. For those still wanting a private guide, we can add this in for an additional supplement, so both options are covered!
One of the things we didn’t cover before was the surrounding area of Rome and we have now selected two wonderful optional extra activities that you can enjoy away from the crowds. The first is a visit to Ostia Antica, Rome’s original port harbour invaluable during the sea trading years. This site is still very much preserved including frescoes on the walls and Hadrian’s Villa, which with your private guide you can discover fully.
The other optional extra is a trip to Tivoli to see Villa d’este. These incredibly detailed gardens feature a 120 water fountains, created on the wishes of Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este as consolation for not being made pope. Your private guide will take you through the gardens and the house where you can witness the true splendor of this incredible place.
Alternatively, you are free to enjoy a day at leisure in Rome. With a good Metro service and most sights easily found on foot, there are many options, including the excellent Villa Borghese, Castel Sant’Angelo or just visiting one of the wonderful piazzas.
With many direct regional airport options, your Rome holiday can be very much tailormade to suit you.
