La Scala 2016 Schedule – Milan Break
The 2016 La Scala, Milan schedule is now up and running and already it is proving a popular one! With Expo now finished the hotels have availability again and prices have returned back to their usual status, meaning we are able to reduce the price to that of the 2014 season. Surely good news for everyone with a love of opera!
If you are thinking of booking a Milan break, then you need to be aware of the operas on offer and as usual with La Scala, it is quite an eclectic mix. For those real opera connoisseurs there is Verdi’s Joan of Arc, Britten’s The Turn of the Screw and Kurtag’s Endgame. If you are more into your mainstream opera Verdi’s Rigoletto or Simon Boccanegra, Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro or The Magic Flute, might be more of interest. For 2016 La Scala are performing Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess, which has not been on the La Scala schedule for quite a while.
Alternatively if you prefer your Milan break with ballet, or would like an experience which includes opera and ballet, you can choose from the ever popular Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker or Swan Lake, or Prokofiev’s Cinderella.
There are of course plenty more operas and ballets on the schedule, so please do have a look at them all on “day 3” on the below link. We have a Milan break package which includes UK economy flights, private airport transfers, 3 nights in centrally located 4 star bed & breakfast accommodation, a private guided Duomo with Rooftop and The Last Supper tour, and Stall seats at La Scala. The stall seats are the best seats in the house being close to the main action on stage.
Milan is perfectly located for some time in Venice, Verona, Florence and/or the lakes. If you want to combine your love of opera and culture, we do have the option of staying in Venice, Verona and Milan, where you get one night in each experiencing the opera. Please note the Verona season is summer only as the opera takes place in an open-air Roman arena. For 2016 the season runs from 24 June – 28 August.
