Italian Short Breaks – New Venice Trips

It’s one of the perks of the job being able to find some new, exciting Italian short breaks, and this is made even more special when we have not one but two great Venice trips to share with you!

The first is our Venice Simplon Orient Express and Grand Ball break. We have had many people wanting to know why we do not combine the Venice Simplon Orient Express train with the Venice Carnival that takes place every year in February time. The simple answer is the train is not running before March so we can’t, however, it doesn’t mean we don’t agree it would be a wonderful trip!

Well, now the company behind Venice Simplon Orient Express have made a change to that. For the final date of the season, departing London Victoria on the 2 November 2017, you can combine this reminiscent of The Roaring Twenties train with attending a ball. Feast your eyes on the beautiful vistas of the majestic Alps as you are wined and dined in luxuriant style.

When you arrive in Venice you are transferred to 5 Star Hotel Cipriani, located on Giudecca Island, where you will stay for the next 2 nights. With fantastic unrivalled view of the lagoon and the Doge’s Palace, make sure you have the camera handy! You are spoilt for choice with hotel facilities. Two great restaurants, a fitness centre, tennis court, boutique shop and even a swimming pool, however, in early November you may not be feeling hot enough for the pool!

The next day attend your costume fitting appointment at the hotel. That evening be transported to a true Venetian palazzo for your Grand Ball experience. With great cuisine and entertainment, the night will disappear in a flash!

The second new Venice trip is our Venetian Special Occasion Retreat. Venice is one of the most repeated destinations, which is also synonymous with a special occasion, however, once you have been before, you are less likely to repeat the main tours, and this Venice trip is perfect for that. It includes a stay in 5 Star San Clemente Palace Kempinski, on its own private island just below Venice. Here you can enjoy a more private, escape from the crowds Venice. We offer a lagoon view room with balcony overlooking the lagoon, along with a welcome bottle of Prosecco to toast your trip in style! The hotel also has a Michelin Starred restaurant, outdoor pool, a complimentary watertaxi shuttle to St Mark’s Square, a wellness/spa centre, beautiful gardens, and even a tennis court.

During the day we include a helicopter trip flying over Venice and its nearby islands and 2 dinners at the hotel. The rest of the programme is up to you! Whether you want some time relaxing in the spa or around the pool, or you want to keep busy, we have a host of great options. If you haven’t yet explored Murano and Burano, we have the option of a private transfer to both islands and then some time at leisure, if you have never been to the opera and are considering it, we have a Palazzo Opera evening where you get to enjoy opera in a beautiful palace that takes place right in front of you. If however, you a real opera lover, taking in an evening at La Fenice, Venice’s main opera house, might be just the thing.

About Hannah Netting

Hannah has had the travel bug from an early age where she was fortunate enough to travel widely, including a four month trip around the world. For her experiencing new cultures, sights and wonders was very important.

Lately her focus has been heavily on Italy enhanced by many wonderful trips including Verona, Venice, Top to Toe, Florence, amongst many others. In Venice she got lost in true Venetian style and got to experience the amazing acoustics of the Verona Arena. Currently Florence is her favourite, but this can always change! With plenty on offer in Italy, it will keep her entertained for many more trips to come!
