There are many wonderful hotels in the centre of Florence, however none has quite the same charm and appeal as Hotel Brunelleschi. Located with views overlooking the Duomo, this is the perfect hotel from which to enjoy your Florence holiday from. The Uffizi Gallery and various museums are also close by.
Hotel Brunelleschi began as an amalgamation of the ancient tower named “Pagliazza” and the medieval church of San Michele in Palchetto. Pagliazza was a former prison, whilst San Michele was built within the byzantine city walls. The hotel follows this theme to the current day with its own private museum, which houses various exhibits unveiled during the reconstruction project. The hotel was even named after Filippo Brunelleschi who once owned the area that the hotel sits upon.
The hotel goes further than most hotels by its importance on scent. As a result each of the rooms are fragranced by Dr Vranjes. There are also Italian fruits, flowers and a Spiced Romantics line focusing on fairytales.
For those having booked their Florence holiday and staying at Hotel Brunelleschi, you will need to pack your copy of Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code & Inferno – the main character Robert Langdon stayed at this hotel in both books, which seeing as he was always close to the action has to be a good sign!
The hotel has 96 rooms ranging from standard level up to panoramic views overlooking the Duomo. There are also several restaurants including Restaurant Santa Elisabetta, which is positioned in a corner of the original byzantine tower. This restaurant caters for couples and parties alike and has a 4 star menu provided by Chef Giuseppe Bonadonna, sourcing creative Italian food.
For those wanting to taste Tuscany’s finest, there is also Osteria della Pagliazza next door to this. With a free 3 course dinner (beverages not included) provided for all those staying at least 3 nights here on their Rome holiday, why wait!
